On March 1, 1981, I created Accounting Consultants of Alaska, Inc, a solely owned corporation. Since that time I have worked with several attorneys in Anchorage on various legal matters, mostly divorce cases. I have performed the following services in connection with those and other cases: Litigation support: Since 1981, I have provided extensive litigation support to numerous attorneys in connection with marital estate valuations, property settlements, pension valuations, embezzlement cases, tax matters, and a variety of other accounting related matters. I have participated in numerous settlement conferences. Expert witness testimony: I have provided expert witness testimony in connection with 10-15 cases, INCLUDING THREE SUPREME COURT CASES (Pattee vs. Pattee, Moffitt vs. Moffitt on remand from the Supreme Court, and Dawson vs. Dawson). I have also assisted in at least 40-50 divorce settlements, including depositions and formal settlement conferences. Civil rule 90.3 calculations/testimony: I have read and am familiar with current Civil Rule 90.3 and the related commentary. I am also familiar with the methods of calculations as well as the types of income and deductions which must be considered, particularly for self-employed individuals and owners of closely held corporations, and where rentals and other investment properties are owned. I have calculated numerous obligations under Civil Rule 90.3 and have worked on CSED cases at the appellate level. Business valuation: For purposes of property settlement and/or trial I have valued several small businesses, including but not limited to bars, construction companies, personal service companies, a dental practice, a Juneau lobbyist partnership, an insurance brokerage firm, and a retail boat sales company. In 1995 I prepared loss valuations for Charlie Coe, Attorney-at-Law, on approximately 26 businesses that were damaged by the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Marital estate valuation: I have prepared numerous marital estate valuations for the purpose of determining an equitable division of marital assets. Pension plan valuations: I have valued numerous pension plans and retirement packages and testified to same. I have read and am familiar with Richmond vs. Richmond and the impact of this case as it relates to Goodwill as a divisible marital asset. I have conducted numerous successful IRS audits on behalf of my clients, many of them very complex in issues and involving substantial sums of money. I have a very good rapport with IRS auditors and collection officers and am very effective in my dealings with them. Software development: I have designed and developed several computer programs to facilitate accounting for marital assets, valuation of pension plans, and miscellaneous other functions. Accounting systems (including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and financial statements): We design & implement accounting and bookkeeping systems. These systems are custom-tailored to the individual client. We provide a full range of accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services to our clients.
